Colorado Creative Music Series

Colorado is home to incredible and innovative musicians. These artists often perform internationally and record with some of the world’s best. Creative Music Works wants to make sure local audiences have the opportunity to hear this great, homegrown talent.

This series is not only about local musicians, but the local artists themselves execute complete creative control. Every three months, Creative Music Works will introduce a new curator who will have 100 percent artistic freedom to design the shows and choose performers.

See our concerts page for the current schedule.

The Colorado Creative Music Series is held at The Laboratory of Art and Ideas at Belmar in Lakewood on the fourth Friday of every month throughout most of 2008. The Lab is a unique institution that combines elements of an art museum, think tank, and public forum. We chose the Lab to host this series because the space both encourages freedom of the performing artists and provides a comfortable space where audiences can enjoy artistic expression.

Farrell Lowe
Boulder guitarist and composer Farrell Lowe is the first curator for the
Colorado Creative Music Series. Lowe is a composer, music/sound thinker, electronics experimentalist, and a guitarist.

Farrell’s various projects explore different parts of his interest in music forms. One group would involve free improvisation from a tawdry ‘rock’ point of view, while another explored the sonic fringes of modern Classical ‘intuitive’ music.

Roger Green

Born and raised in Denver, Green started playing in bands as a teenager with Patrick Park and Sera Cahoone. He then joined the Czars for a few albums, then left to focus on his own works. Sometimes spacey, floaty, dreamy, and other times folky, Green changes according to my environment. His most recent work is  a composition for 25 typists and 5 musicians presented a the Belmar Laboratory of Art and Ideas in Lakewood Colorado in September.

Green also appears on the Blossom half of Ron Miles' Stone/Blossom album which was released by Sterling Circle Records in November 2006. Green calls the album his "finest recorded work" and is currently working on a second solo album to follow-up last year's self-titled debut.
